어떤분이 지하철을 탔습니다.자리를 잡고 막 앉았는데 장애인이 와서 한푼 도와달라고 호소를 했습니다.순간 별 생각없이 주머니를 뒤졌습니다.천원짜리 한장쯤 줄려고 생각한것이지요. 그런데 공교롭게도 그날 따라 잔돈이 한푼도 없었습니다.장애인은 돈을 줄려는줄 짐작하고 그 자리를 떠나지 않았습니다. 할수없이 지갑을 내어 만원 짜리 한장을 꺼내 주었습니다. 돈을 받은 장애인은 감사와 함께 놀라는 표정이었습니다. 장애인 뿐아니라 보고있던 주위사람들도 표정이 달라지며 놀랐습니다.더욱 놀란것은 돈을 건네준 자신이었습니다. 언제 내가 돈 만원 가지고 이렇게 생색 내어본 일이 있는가.얼굴이 벌겋게 달아오를 정도로 행복한것을,아 아,우리는 왜 주지못하는가,그것이 얼마나 행복한지를 주어보지 않아 모르기 때문인것을.
