2월 11일 금요일 오전에 영문분석 수업에서 얻은 독해의 감과 단어 외우기의 새로운 방법들, 롸이팅 선생님과의 대화속에서 받은 자극... 마치 대학교에 다시 온 듯한 느낌이었다. 나를 Challenge하고, 미래를 도전하는 듯한 느낌이다. 이러한 마음으로 미국에서도 공부하면 반드시 영어의 좀더 나은 세계로 나아가지 않을까.... 좀 더 일취월장한 나의 모습을 보고 싶다. (Historian) A perfect historian must possess an imagination suffciently powerful to make his narrative picturesque. Yet he must control it so absolutely as to content himself wkth the matherials shich he finds, and to refrain fro supplying deficiencies by additions of his own, (revealing) I know very well that we are not all equal , nor can we be so, but I maintain that he who thinks it necessary to keep away from the common people so that he may command respect is as much to be blamed as a coward, who comceals himself form the enemy because he fears defeat. (Law) Law, in its true notion, is not so much the limitation as the direction of a free and intelligent man to his proper interest, and prescribes no farther than is for the general good of those under that law. Could they be happier without it, the law, as a useless thing, would of itself vaninsh; that hardly deserves the name of confinement which hedges us in only from deep streams and precipices.
